ZenKind is a space we created out of a shared belief that mental wellness should feel human, not clinical and impossible to understand without a psychology degree. We’re Gail Stewart and Jennifer Still, two long-time writers and editors who’ve spent years (more than 30 between us!) working in lifestyle and wellbeing—and navigating plenty of life’s heavier moments ourselves.

Jennifer Still, ZenKind’s Editor in Chief, has been appeared in countless publications over the years, serving as a longtime health, wellness, and tech writer for Business Insider, and publishing with the likes of Healthline, Vanity Fair, Bon Appetit, and many more. She was also the founding editor for HelloGiggles, Zooey Deschanel’s women’s lifestyle site which was later acquired by Time, Inc.

The site’s Associate Editor, Gail Stewart, has more than 15 years of publishing experience, also working for HelloGiggles as the site’s research coordinator before moving on to other projects for companies including Ask.com, where she was the content analyst and strategist. Prior to that, she worked for more than 25 years for her local government council in the social services department, helping vulnerable children and adults with complex mental health and behavioural issues find stability and resources.
We started this site because we both know what it’s like to feel burnt out, anxious, and unsure where to turn for real, relatable support. Over the years, we started to notice that all the advice out there often felt either too vague or totally unrelateable and out of touch. We wanted to create something different: a calm, grounded space that offers genuinely helpful content on the things that affect our mental and emotional health every day.
ZenKind covers a mix of topics that feel especially important to us:
- Stress, and how to manage it in realistic, everyday ways
- Gratitude, and the small mindset shifts that can change your day
- Self-care, without the pressure to be perfect about it
- Mental health, spoken about clearly, honestly, and without judgement
We’re not therapists, but we care deeply about mental wellness—and we spend a lot of time researching, writing, and reflecting to make sure what we share is both thoughtful and useful. Whether you’re looking for ideas to feel more grounded or simply want to feel a little less alone in what you’re going through, we hope you’ll find something here that speaks to you.
Thanks for being here with us—we hope you love what you find here.
